What I miss most in the winter is that I can’t go out in my garden and quickly pick a bouquet like this to brighten up my day. Orange tip butterflies are a symbol of spring for me! In April they emerge from their pupae and they will be around until mid-June. They will lay their eggs on several plants in the mustard family, Cardamines, like bitter cress and, in Europe, on the cuckoo flowers. Only the male butterfly has the orange wing tips – the female strongly resembles the Cabbage White.
