Description
When the Water was Low – Wood Ducks – 24″ x 16″ Mirror Framed Barnwood
Some mornings don’t just happen — they’re given.
After the water dropped at a quiet East Texas lake, something extraordinary unfolded. Fallen timber rose from the shoreline like natural perches, and for reasons no one could explain, nearly 100 Wood Ducks gathered there in brilliant color and calm. Cory James McLaughlin and his son Henry just happened to be standing there to witness it.
He hasn’t seen it like that since.
That once-in-a-lifetime moment now lives on in When the Water Was Low — a striking mirror artwork that blends story, nature, and reflection into one unforgettable statement piece.
See Yourself in the Story
This isn’t just wall décor. It’s an experience.
Printed directly onto premium mirror glass using advanced, high-resolution technology, the artwork radiates with rich color and fine detail while maintaining a crystal-clear reflection. As you pass by, you don’t just admire the ducks — you become part of the landscape.
The reflective surface adds depth and movement, giving the illusion that the water and timber stretch beyond the frame. It’s immersive. It’s powerful. It’s personal.

More Than a Reflection
This piece captures something rare — the stillness after the water falls, the surprise of wildlife gathering, the quiet bond between father and son.
It reminds us that sometimes beauty reveals itself when the waters recede.
Hang it where you’ll see it often. Let it reflect not only your image — but the memory of a morning that may never come again.
Image Notes
This was another special day with Wood Ducks not long after Bird Haven. The Water at our local lake near my house in East Texas was especially low and the fallen trees were exposed and for some reason about 100 Wood Ducks decided it was a good day to visit. My son Henry and I just happened to be there that morning. I haven’t seen it like that since.
